Has anyone held a party/family picnic @ Cedar Creek?

Thinking of this for Colin's 1st BDay -

My neighbors just sold their corner lot to a builder who's demolishing and supposedly putting TWO houses on that plot - Not exactly going to be a good summer for backyard parties!

i never did but I briefly looked into it. i think they charge for a permit maybe $125 and you have to use Dover to cater. Don't think they allow anyone else to cater.

i have had 2 parties there...

the first one was for DSs 1st birthday in 2008, we used their onsite caterers.. Dover. but we used them because we have full service catering.. cleanup, wait staff, they got all necessary permits, etc.

back in 2008 it was free to get into the park for anyone, nassau/suffolk/queens/NJ/ you got my point.

it was a good party, we had way too ugh food, and it was as you would expect it to be, but no complaints on my end.

in 2010 we had DDs 1st birthday, we did not do onsite catering, we had the food brought in by a deli (they shall remain nameless bc they were horrible) we had pizza delivered, but we were responsible for permits, drinks and supplying our food. they would NOT allow them to stay onsite if they had uniforms or a commerce truck..

so ye you can still have a full catered party, but you need to work around it in a different way.

also in 2010, any NON nassau residents had to pay to get into the park (DDs b-day is in July, i think it goes into effect Memorial day through labor day on weekends) it was $5 i think to go in..

i can go on and on on things to do and not to do...

but i would definitely have a party there again...
