Has anyone heard about the fire at Villa Roma Resort in Upstate?
We went last year for the 4th of July weekend with DH's sister, husband and daughter and had a great time.
Well DH's sister was planning on going back this summer when someone called them and told them that the main building caught fire.
Has anyone heard about this news?

Yes...it happened a few days ago...I saw it on the news. Everyone was crying and telling the news reporters how sad they were because of family traditions and memories.

Yes, the fire started on Tuesday night at 10 p.m. and burned for hours. It destroyed the reception area, lobby, cafe, dining room, bar and a few rooms - basically the whole main area.

I went every year, the last weekend in July when I was a kid. I have so many memories of that place.

Thanks for posting this...I just called my MIL because they have a timeshare deal there. She already knew and actually exchanged one of her weeks for Pennsylvania but is hopefully that her other week in October at VR will be okay. The apts are okay so she thinks that worst case they will just have to eat somewhere else.

They are feeing everyone at the clubhouse and chalet right now, they seem to think they'll be able to accomodate people.

I wish I had pictures scanned. Talk about a drama queen.
It was awesome growing up though, they had kids camp and teen camp and we would do things like water parks and movies and nightclubs. We never had a curfew and would stay up all night long and as we got older party. It was where I first got drunk - 1/2 bottle of rumplemintz, I still cannot smell peppermint without getting sick!

Was that man a riot or what...LOL He had us cracking up, just the way he talked. Yeah the place does have a Dirty Dancing look to it. Some of my family members go there yearly in the summer and one of my cousin's has a time share.
I heard that some of the rooms had burned down as well? I wonder how long it's going to take to fix it up.
