It's a dream for me to go to Arrojo Studios - the guy from What Not to Wear.

I used to go to Vidal Sassoon but my stylist left to open her own place in NJ.

I know -- I am trying to think of something I need to do to warrant such a fabulous splurge!

There are other stylists there that are less expensive. I am positive they all go through extensive training before they are allowed to cut clients hair.

When I lived in NY I used to go to a place called Salon AKS, they aren't cheap, but I always got great cuts and color there. Mika used to cut my hair.

I go to Bumble. But believe it or not I've had a bad haircut there too! It really depends on who you go to. The girl I use now is FABULOUS but she moved to LA and isn't taking any new clients (she only comes back once every few months for appts.) If you chose Bumble tell the reservationist what type of cut you are looking for and that you are really picky, and ask them to suggest who would be the right fit for you. That's how I found my girl. Also, keep in mind that the stylists all charge different prices, so if you are looking to keep it to a certain number, mention that too. Good luck.

I've been to B&B and a bunch of other "high end" places in the city...they're all good, but, maybe I didn't know who to go to b/c I wasn't overly impressed. Try it out though...you may have better luck!

he charges $500 now.

but I go there. he's always there. he doesn't cut my hair...but he's touched it and said it looked good.

he supervises all of the other stylists, and there is a "range" of them. I go to the lowest one and still get a great cut.

I've been to Bumble and Bumble and I wasn't impressed. I am much happier with my local person. Still not cheap but not over the top.

Re: has anyone gone to a really good place to cut your hair?

i wnt to a fancy place in the city once and the haircut was just ok, nothing to write home about.

I think you have to pay a little more for a great cut, but you don't have to pay more than $100 for it.

I've been to quite a few high end places in the city.

Bumble & Bumble was ok...nothing great.

Warren Tricomi was good, better than B&B, but still not overly impressed.

John Barrett Salon (inside Bergdorf Goodman)...cut/color was great!! Worth every penny....

Now I am a faithful client of the Rita Hazan Salon....I have never been so consistently happy every time I walk out....Carrie does my color and Nicole does my cuts and they are both FABULOUS!

I'd love to go there too! I also wonder how far in advance you need to make an appointment with Nick.
I can't imagine ever spending $500 on a hair cut though.. Chat Icon
