Has anyone ever started a neighborhood watch?
There have been waaaaaay too many robberies in my area in the last month or so... it is averaging 1-2x/night! They keep hopping from neighborhood to neighborhood in my town and it is getting out of control. I know that there are many undercover NC officers patroling, but a few of my neighbors are interested in doing a neighborhood watch. How do I get this started? Has anyone ever done something like this before? TIA!

We actually have a facebook group for the neighbors on the block and we alert one another of anything suspicious going on that way. We use it for other things also, but it comes in very handy for neighborhood watch also...

Oh that's a great idea! Only problem is... we are the youngest people on the block, so most of our neighbors aren't on FB. 
I was thinking about leaving notes on their doors - is that dumb?

This reminds me of an episode of Rosanne when the neighbors got robbed. The neighbors came over fuming and questioned the fact that they have a neighborhood watch. It was either Dan or Roseanne who responded with "You got robbed, and the neighborhood watched"  
Anyway sorry... I don't actually have an answer to your question- but that's just crazy that there are so many robberies over there!!!

It is so scary!!! My neighbor has one of those police scanners and tells us everytime there was a robbery. The last one was literally 3 blocks away. Soooo not cool! You'd think we lived in a bad neighborhood or something.

Yea that sounds absurd, especially because you do NOT live in a bad area!!
I wonder if there are incidences like this all over the place, but we just don't hear about it because it isn't publicized. If your neighbor didn't have that scanner, I'm guessing you would have no idea!
It makes me question what's going on around MY neck of the woods...
