Has anyone ever made a headboard?
I see them being made on home improvement shows all the time. Are they really as easy as they look and are there any secrets to getting it right?

Re: Has anyone ever made a headboard?
I have not but I have upholstured(sp?) a chair-The trick is to pull from the middle first then work out on each side. It is VERY easy. I'll try and post a pic of teh chair I did later or tomorrow.

Re: Has anyone ever made a headboard?
I made an upholstered headboard a few years ago. It is really easy. I bought the wood from home depot, then from a fabric store got the foam and batting. First I spray glued the wood put the foam down then the batting over the foam. I stapled the foam into the back of the wood. Then did the same thing with the fabric. The trick was if I remember correctly to do the corners last. I also googled DYI instructions. We put wood legs onto it then attached those legs to the bed frame.

Re: Has anyone ever made a headboard?
I haven't but I am planning on making one for our guest bedroom once everything is set with our new master.
It does look easy...let's hope so.

Re: Has anyone ever made a headboard?
I would like to do one too. I was planning on having a lumber co (like nassau/suffolk) cut the wood for me to size and then do like the PP said - foam and batting and fabric.
I do want to do tufted though, so I have to decide how many buttons and where. My mom gave me button making kit, so I can have the buttons match
I actually bought an extra panel of my curtains so it would match
