Has anyone ever been to a book signing?
My husbands uncle wrote a book. They are having a book signing on Monday night in Southampton. They are pretty wealthy and so are their friends. It's at a resturant.
WHAT the heck do I wear

Sure. You don't really need to dress up for a book signing--a lot of people go right from work, so clothing varies, often they wear work stuff.
But if these people are wealthy and you may hang out with them, I'd wear something nice, but not formal.

K thanks. I feel like i've been to book signings in a book store but this is different.
I was thinking like work attire would be ok but wanted to make sure.

Can't your husband ask his uncle if there's a dress code? This sounds like less of a public book signing and more of a party to celebrate the publishing of his book. It may be more like a party and less like a book signing if it's at a restaurant...

this is a funny exchange.
I'd wear a sheath dress... Work-y, but dressier.

Is it at Book Hampton?
That might be dressier.
I've gone to a few at Book Revue in Huntington and it wasn't fancy.

I have no suggestions... I would ask your DH's uncle or aunt if he's married.
Can ya tell I just don't run in those kinds of high falootin' circles?!

I think what ever you'd wear to a dinner party in a restaurant would be fine (like if it was an anniversary or birthday or something.)
I've only been to them in bookstore or at academic conferences. Those are usually business casual.
