Hard Wood Floors
We have been in our house for almost 2 years and have done NO WORK (I mean, nothing - not even painting or anything!!). It was really in move-in condition when we bought it but now I want to do some stuff. Here are my questions!
Hard wood floors: Who did yours? What color? What type of wood did you use? What material is your kitchen floor? If you work full time, who was home when the work was being done? Did you live in your house while the work was done?
Painting: Did you paint first or do the floors first? how did you decide what colors to use? Who actually painted?
Kitchen: Did you ever just replace the sink? Who did you use for your counter tops?
TIA!

Re: Hard Wood Floors
i can tell you this... DO THE FLOORS FIRST!!! trust me. you may think, you don't want to drip paint onto newly done floors - but as long as you catch it right away it will come off no trouble at all. and if you're having the painting done professionally, even less to worry about IMO. having hardwood floors redone is a MESSY project and there will be residue all over the walls. so to paint first isn't wise, at least not in rooms where you are getting floors done. to answer some of your questions... we had our hardwood floors done by ultra floors (baldwin, ny). we went with the natural color of the flloors; we didn't stain a darker color. pictures are in my album. as far as painting... we had the entry way and ceilings done professionally (hard to reach) and the rest of the painting, my mother and i did. paint colors... i can't really advise how to choose colors. we just went with colors that we liked; thought would go well with our decor etc. ummm... no we didn't live in the house while the floors were being redone. we both work full time, so we scheduled it for when my parents were around to at least let the workers in in the morning. we aren't living there, so it's not like there was anything we were worried about them stealing. hope that helped some; good luck.
