Happy to be done

Done with cleaning out FIL's hoarder apartment !
I turn in the keys tomorrow morning.

Started the process back in October when FIL was hospitalized and ultimately moved into a nursing home.
It took 5 junk trucks to haul away the crap and furniture that FIL accumulated, not to mention the 100 or so contractor bags that were put out for regular trash during this time.
The apartment was disgusting - dirty, smelly and full of bugs and mouse droppings. How that man lived like that we will never understand.

But it's done. I found all of MIL's jewelry, the collectible salt & pepper shakers and the beer steins.
Bins full of old photos to share with the remaining family. Bins of old records that we have no idea what to do with, bins of tools, all in the garage for now.
Everything else got tossed.

DH and I are just so happy that we are done !

On the bright side at least you were able to salvage some memorable items.

Good Work

Having emptied my parents' home a few months ago, I totally understand your relief. We should all take a lesson and throw stuff out now to prevent our kids from going through this torture. LOL.

Found stuff that I shouldn't have, like my in-law's sex toys. EWWWWW.
MIL would have been 92 and the old man is 83.
That shit should have been gone LONG time ago.

Found a gun too. FIL played dumb about it. We turned it into the precinct, it's real and that's that.
