Handling being sick with your little one

I am home with an upper respiratoty infection. I hate the thought of possibly getting DD sick. I am on antibiotic, but I still worry. It seems so hard to take care of a baby while also trying to keep them from catching what you have. I feel like if she gets sick from me I am going to feel awful.

Are you BF or FF? If you are BF, continue to nurse as regular, your antibodies will be passed along to the baby.

Hope you feel better!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I hated it too... I was sick a few months ago when Mason was about 3 or 4 months old. I just stayed away from him as much as I can and DH helped out a lot. If I did go by him I wouldn't breathe in his face and didn't hold him too much. Also, I washed right b4 I would pick him up and I wiped everything down in the house and cleaned as much as I can. THere's really nothing you can do, but try your best to stay sanitized. Since you're on meds for over 24 hours and if you haven't had a fever in over 24 hours you should be ok.

I've been there. Wash hands, wash hands, wash hands & if you're nursing, keep it up...that's about all you can do!Chat Icon

I am dealing with this now. DS is 6 weeks old and I have a bad cold. Unfortunately I am the only one home with him most of the time. Hubby works 12 hour shifts. I have not kissed him anywhere but the top of his head. I can't help it. I wash my hands as much as I can. So far so good. Knock on wood. I will feel really bad if he catches it...Chat Icon

When DD was a newborn (about 8 weeks) and I was sick, I kept nursing, washed my hands constantly, tried to avoid kissing her face (but did kiss the top of her head), and tried to wear a surgical mask when i was close to her.

I am no longer nursing, but have been on antibiotic for 2 days. I am washing washing washing, but such a PITA when trying to feed D and then my nose is running uncontrollably. I know I am going to feel majorly guilty if she gets sickChat Icon
