Hammock help
I want to buy DH a hammock for Father's Day. Any suggestions? Which is better a rope or fabric one? I'm looking to spend around 250.00.

Re: Hammock help
We bought two fabric ones at Target probably three years ago.

I find the fabric ones more comfy. I just bought this one for Al:

Re: Hammock help
The fabric ones are much more comfortable.
I got a metal stand from Walmart for about 100.00, and the actual hammock itself was about 90.00; but I got that at one of the Harrows 'end of year' clearances.

Re: Hammock help
We have a double-sized rope one from LL Bean. It's great! I do know that the sell cushions for it, and I'm looking to get one. I just wouldn't want it outside all the time exposed to the elements.

Re: Hammock help
We have a fabric one and LOVE it. I spend all day in it. It also came with a cover so it's very well protected from the outside elements.

Does that come with the stand and everything you need? If so, that's a great price. How do you like yours?

Its not out of the box yet - it just arrived this week and is a father's day gift, so I can't review it yet.
It does NOT come with a stand, but I'm hanging it from trees, so I didn't want a stand.

Re: Hammock help
i've had both, I had a fabric one first & I found that it mildewed & got stained after after rain if I didn't bring it in. I scrubbed it & it came clean but eventually the fabric fadded. Since then I've had the rope style, the really inexpensive rope ones mildew quickly too. The one I have now it three years old & it stays out all summer, it still looks good. My DH got it at target for around $200
