half-time cloth diaper stash

We are planning on cloth diapering only at home and using disposable on the go and when traveling. How many diapers do you think I need?

Re: half-time cloth diaper stash

I am taking 3 months off, then working a month, then I have the summer off. Next year, the baby will be with family mostly, so hopefully, they will be able to use cloth during the day as well.

That is around what I was thinking....20ish. I might try prefolds for some of those though to keep costs down. AIOs are super cute, but if its just me doing the diapering, then I think I can handle prefolds.

Thanks!!

def look into co-ops if $$ is a concern. I just ordered some NB AIO's for less than $5 a piece. only thing with co-ops is it takes time to get your order. Alot of those co-ops also have B/S/T pages where you can buy the items more quickly and easily.

I have read that a lot of people are getting scammed through co-ops, so I am nervous about them. Also, are most of the co-ops for the cheaper Chinese diapers? Or is it possible to get better quality diapers through co-ops? Money is a concern, but not to the point where its cheap or nothing, kwim? I budgeted for our diaper stash, but I prefer not to concentrate my spending on NB sized diapers since it seems our little one might be on the bigger size.

My cheap Chinese alva and kawaiis have lasted longer and work better than my expensive Bum Genius. I've been CDing for 20 months now. Full time.

If you want BG, cottonbabies.com usually have good deals. They also sell flips.

Try a few different brands and see what you like and what works best for your babe. They all have a different fit.

To answer your question, for part time, I'd say 15-25. It depends on how often you wash.

Okay cool. I just read some bad things about them and I try to stick to more natural/organic fabrics, in general. But if you like them, maybe I will try a few. Thanks!

So far my experiences have been good. I AM however part of a co-op where one of the hosts went rogue and got away with A LOT of money. She was banned and they are looking into options for pursuing legal action. So, it definitely DOES happen. the main issue is that it went past the 45 day window for disputes...otherwise paypal woud have covered it. The admins are assisting in the process. I think more often than not the admins and hosts are pretty good.

You can definitely get natural fibers like bamboo or hemp through co-ops. The issue with those is that they are not stay dry, so your baby will feel the wetness. I like my Chinese cheapies, Kawaiis are my favorite diapers. The have bamboo diapers as well. Besides, many of the name brands like Bumgenius and Fuzzibunz either make or receive most of their materials from China anyway.

I finally just rid of all of my microfiber and we're using all bamboo and charcoal bamboo inserts. Kawaii bamboo are my favorite dipes, EVER!! Stocked up during their Black Friday sale and got them for $5 each. Cheaper than co-op pricing!
