From my research it seems in Nassau its just East Meadow and Wantagh

These happen to be two of our top picks for buying a home, but what do people who work do with their kids who have half day kindergarten?

I'm in Rockland but, our district has half day K (didn't even realize that was an option when we bought!)

All of the nursery schools in our area have enrichment for the other half day. DS will do half day K, half day enrichment (there is transportation provided in between).

Our daycare also has a before and after school program which he will do certain days a week.

After care. There are a bunch of districts on LI that only have 1/2 day. And those that have it are in fear of losing it yearly at budget time.

No matter what I would never buy expecting it to still be in place because of all the budget cuts lately.

Wantagh is full time as of this past September... East Meadow is the only school district in Nassau that is half day now.

thanks all!! The idea that there is transportation to an after school or enrichment type program lets us broaden our search.

And like the other person said we can never be sure where we move will continue to have it so we'd have to make it work...
