Hair dye

Any info on how safe/unsafe or whatever? I have been dying my hair blonde and I was going to just dye it one time back to my natural medium brown so I don't have to worry about it. Should I not even dye it once? I also heard about natural dyes or something. What do you ladies think?

Re: Hair dye

Well, the Henna dyes (the natural ones) are supposed to be ok, but since there is still a lifting agent I would nt be 100% too sure. I personally am waiting for my roots to grow a little & then will just match my color to the roots, that way no dye touches the scalp. I am also wearing a mask for the fumes.

I dyed my hair on Sunday. I couldn't take all the gray anymore. My Dr said in a well ventilated area it is fine. I would check with your Dr just to be sureChat Icon

Re: Hair dye

I am a hairstylist - and have been asked this many times. Every doctor will give you a different answer. I truly beleive you have to do what your comfortable w/. I colored my hair through my whole 1st pregnancy & will again. My sister colored her's, my ciousin - Aunt etc.... In fact my sister started labor pains and we were timing them with color on her roots! Couldn't deliver w/ nasty re- growth! Chat Icon It was funny! SO do what your comfortable with. There are no SOLID facts about it either way.

I couldn't agree more. For the most part, the risk would be in the chemicals reaching your bloodstream...but I read somewhere once that the dye/color would have to sit there for a very long time to have a chance to reach your bloodstream...I'm pretty sure your hair would fall out by then!Chat Icon I get highlights so the time the chemicals are even remotely touching my skin is even smaller than dying/coloring as the "stuff" is inside foil the whole time except for washing!

Re: Hair dye

My doctor said after week 12.

I am 85% grey, yes WHITE roots. I didn't color for 13 weeks and then used the natural henna. My roots are still a bit lighter than the rest of my hair but it's better than the grey.

After all I went through to get pg, no way was I doing my normal salon permanent dye. JMO.

I think every doctor will give you a different answer.
I dyed my hair but since I got preggo, I haven't done it. I feel that I can wait after the baby is born. My baby will be in my womb for 9 months so I thought I wouldn't dye my hair for that time...I felt like it's not a long time and why risk it since they really have no supporting data or evidence either way...so I decided just to wait.....
