Had an informal observation today....
Of course I freaked out...I thought it $ucked....and then one of the other teachers who is also new came up to me later on and asked if she could observe a writers workshop lesson of mine....So I ask her why and she said that the assistant principal told her that I was really good at Writer's WS (TC for all the NYC teachers) I was so happy ....I am sorry I just needed to share...that made my day!

yay!!! One down!!! How many observations does your district require for untenured teachers? Mine makes us go through 6 each untenured year, then one per year after tenure. Keep up the great work!

I think we get 4 formal....and informal when ever they damn well please...I am in NYC...the informal can not be written up though

we get 3 for untenured, 1 for tenured.
My old district had 4... and we thought it was a lot!

Untenured in my district is 6 official a year and as many as they want informals that can be written up also.
Tenured is 1-3 formals a year and as many unofficials as they would like which can also be written up.
Congratulations that it went so well. The informals always make me so nervous!
