Gum
Ok, I'm mad. I don't use artificial sweetners, I hate them, so I was never worried about making sure I don't eat them while pregnant. But last night, as I popped a piece of Orbit gum into my mouth, I read the packaging, and it says sugarfree on it...I read the ingredients, and it lists sorbitol, aspartame, etc. I've been chewing gum this whole pregnancy, just like before I was pregnant. DH loves Orbit, and I just take a pack from home, never checked it. Should I be concerned?

Re: Gum
I just recently asked my Dr about this because I was surprised to find out it had these ingredients in it. He said not to worry since it was such a small amount and it wouldn't harm the baby. Just to be safe ask your Dr and let me know what they say.

Thanks, I have an appointment tomorrow, I'll be sure to ask him. I was just so annoyed, because I don't eat artificial sweeteners ever, so I thought I was in the clear on that. But I have at least a piece or two of gum a day after eating, you know? Good to hear your doc said it was ok... I'll try to remember to post after my appointment tomorrow!

Re: Gum
This surprised me too - in fact, I have had SUCH a hard time finding gum with no artificial sweetners that I have switched to altoids I'm sure it is fine though because everyone chews gum and almost all gums seem to have it nowadays...even the ones with sugar too!

This is true, even wrigleys doublemint has apartame!! I don't think bubbalicious or hubba bubba have it...love that gum! For a while I was addicted to double bubble too...I'm a gum addict! Good thing my DH is a dentist because after all this sugary gum I'm going to need some work done!
