Guess I spoke too soon

The nausea has officially kicked in Chat Icon It started two days ago and hasn't gone away. I am not throwing up (fortunately) but have such an uneasy stomach and food just does not look appetizing! Chat Icon Any tips for a newbie?

Re: Guess I spoke too soon

As much as food does not look appetizing...make sure you eat...it should make you feel better.

When I have nothing in my stomach, I still feel sick, until I eat.

Feel better!Chat Icon

Hang in there. If I threw up I felt much better. See if you can actually get sick you might feel a little better.

I never threw-up, but I definitely felt queazy and had massive food and smell aversions.

here are my tips:

eat even if you don't want to at the time. even 7 saltines will help take the edge off. empty tummy = more Chat Icon

try your best to stay hydrated. It's super hard to drink on an empty stomach, so try to eat and then drink.

I found I could not eat any meat or veggies during that time. they tasted very icky and bitter. However, fruit and cottage cheese / cream cheese, and bread were fine. So, go to the supermarket every couple days and buy whatever you can imagine swallowing. it will change every several days. For me, melon, clean-tasting fruit, and the dairy / bread / cereal thing were all ok.

feel better!

Chat Icon Ginger ale really helped settle my stomach enough to be able to eat something.

I found relief with the following things-- sour patch kids or any sour candies, fruit, especially apples and grapes, gatorade, water with lemon in it, ginger ale, goldfish crackers, and tums quick dissolve powder. Fell better!

Re: Guess I spoke too soon

ginger ale, or ginger tea helped and saltines. I agree with the pp's you have to eat or it gets worse. Seems counter intuative but trust us it'll help!

Re: Guess I spoke too soon

I had really bad nausea too. Its even starting to hit me now and again. The thigs I tried were sea bands, lots of fruit (because i really couldn't drink), ice, ices, sour candy and weird enough some cheeses. They are an odd group, but they helped me get threw the first trimester. I was lucky this pg though, my dr took pity on me and gave me zofran.

Re: Guess I spoke too soon

Eat whatever food you can get down. If that means bread, fruit, ice cream etc..., then eat it.I usually eat so healthy, but when M/S hit, I ate what I could get down. Which usually was tons of carbs, fruit, grilled cheese, PB&J.

Feel better!!! It does go away.

Re: Guess I spoke too soon

the only advice i have is to stay hydrated and eat what DOES appeal to you... even if your diet consists of grilled cheese, pancakes and gatorade for the next few weeks (like mine did at one point Chat Icon

food aversions are totally normal, and i promise, they will go away eventually Chat Icon hang in there!

Re: Guess I spoke too soon

I've never been PG but women that I knew that had pregnancy induced nausea always had salitines and ginger ale nearby.

Re: Guess I spoke too soon

Having been in your shoes up until 15 weeks of this pregnancy, my advice would be to snack as much as you can even though you don't feel like eating or drinking anything. Eat whatever you can that doesn't turn your stomach, even if you feel like you are not eating nutritious food, find what works for you and stick with it. I would always snack in between meals, don't let your stomach get empty.

I found that sour things helped me, my nurse at my doctors office suggested it, she said it tricks your stomach, all I know is it helped. I ate a lot of sour patch candy, pickles, lemonade, lemon ices/pops, life savers, yogurt, cheese, ginger cookies. Hang in there and I hope something helps you! Chat Icon
It will go away, that's what got me through it.

Re: Guess I spoke too soon

Force yourself to eat.. it sounds nausating to do so but it may be the trick to making you feel better.. it usually does.
