Grunting Noise?
When DS gets frustrated he makes this noise that sounds like grunting. He puts his lips together and makes this weird sound and bubbles come out of his mouth.
It's so strange and hard to describe but is it grunting?

He's just discovering the new sounds he can make when he moves his lips and tongue in different ways.

Re: Grunting Noise?
They are still just learning to make noises with their tongues-mouths open/closed whatever. Babies make a TON of weird, new noises.

Sounds right to me, just sounds like normal baby stuff.

Re: Grunting Noise?
Julia use to do that grunting sound all the time when she was small, she would do it a lot right before she got up from sleeping. My DR said it was normal.

Re: Grunting Noise?
DD does this and it seems that she does it when she's trying to do something like when she struggles to try to sit up or roll over so it's sort of like when men grunt when they lift weights. I think it's when she's straining muscles. maybe not the same as what your DC is doing?

Re: Grunting Noise?
Ella does this a lot lately - we've taken to calling her "gruntie"
She does it when she wants something - usually attention

You know what would be a good thing for you to get....any kind of parenting book. They help explain all these little things you are wondering about so you know it is normal

ditto that..
think of him as a little caveman. everything is brand new and must be learned and taught by example or simply through growth.
he is learning to communicate, or yes, perhaps fill his diaper. thats ususally my cue to grab the wipes and a fresh one!

Re: Grunting Noise?
Very normal. It might be a way to communicate. Put yourself in the place of a new baby. You can't talk, move really and definately can't talk so he's finding ways to express. he may not even be frustrated but just exploring. My DS was making a almost crawling noise today that was really funny. he's 7 months old and we don't have a dog. It wasn't frustration but just a new fun noise. Just enjoy all of the new and wonderful noises and actions. You'll get used ti each other in no time. It's actually great that he is making noises - very healthy.
