Grrrr - Not having a good Friday Morning
They are doing a special thing tonight and closing the office at 6 so everyone can participate. I was not planning on going and was sticking to my regular schedule.
Well apparently one of the supervisors sent an email yesterday (and did not include me because she has not updated her group email list) and advised that everyone has to stay until 6pm today and take an hour lunch.
I made plans and now I am getting told I have to stay until 6pm because it was told to everyone. UM well it was not told to me and I made plans.
Then I get the guilt trip of well even if you're not going you really should stay because next time their is something and you want to go you'll want the same opportunity that everyone got now.
NOOOOO I should not be guilted to stay an extra 30 min because a supervisor did not update her group email list.

UGH....staying late on a Friday!  Can you tlak to your boss who emailed everyone to state you made plans after work and you were not aware it was mandatory?

Wish I could but my boss is in a meeting off site and will not be in today. We have no supervisors in today because they are at a meeting offisite and the manager was let go yesterday. We have one acting supervisor who said it's not her call.

As much as it stinks to have to stay. I would do it with no issues, since they've been laying people off like crazy at your place.
One may not have to do with the other, but I wouldn't want to give them any reason to consider laying me off.
That's just me, maybe I'm paranoid

Then leave when you're supposed to. Yes, it may not be the best protocol, but it's Friday, you weren't included on the e-mail, and you had plans already in place.

ITA with this. you weren't advised and you made other plans - it's that simple. you aren't in charge of her email list

You both have very good points and I definately don't want to make waves because of the way things are around here but at the same time I wasn't included on this mandatory stay and no one on a supervisor level informed me of it.
I dont want to cause any hostility in my department but if the acting supervisor never said anything I would have never known and would have done my business as usual.
My plans are nothing major but it's still something I made arrangements to do this evening.
I told one person don't make me use the it's Passover card
