Grrr... Vent about Coach leather
I am sorry but I need to vent.
About a month ago my brother told me that the Coach wallet I had given him as a birthday gift had developed a small hole. He aked me to send it back to them because I have always had good luck with returning defective merchandise. So I was a good sister and sent the wallet back for evaluation and have e-mailed a few times to check on it. Well, I finally got an answer and they say that the wallet is past its warranty and they are returning it to be as is. They say they only guarantee small leather goods for 2 years.
I personally think the leather was defective. I have two Coach wallets that have given me no problems. My DH has one and my mom has one with no problems. Something was wrong with this.
I wrote back and let them know how disappointed I am. I even let them know that many other companies will replace the item or issue a merchandise credit with no questions asked and no time limit.
I am so angry. Why is it that J Crew, LLBean, Lands' End, Eddie Bauer and so many others will stand behind their products and go out of their way to make you happy and Coach thinks they can give some lame response and go on?
Grrrrrr. I feel defeated in this situation. I am SO annoyed.

I have a friend who is a manager at a Coach store. I think you should try going to coach and talking to a manager in person - you might have more luck!

If I get enough people who echo what you think (which is what I always thought) I will fwd it to them. Maybe if they realize that they could lose a large customer-base, they will try to do something to retain me as a customer and make good on this.

I would go to the store and speak to someone
I think it's easy for them to say no to a letter- but harder when you are standing there
plus I like the factor of other customers seeing what is going on- it's usually motivates them to shut you up and give you what you want

I would have told them off and added "that's what you get for outsourcing to China!"
I agree with the other posters... go to the Coach store.

Sadly, my brother went to a Coach store and said they were horribly snobby and told him that the return policy on small leather goods is 1-2 years. Then I tried returning it to the outlet where I purchased it and they were very nice but told me the same thing. But the outlets sent it to Coach for an evaluation and didn't charge me the $20.
Does anybody know someone in a Coach store on LI who they think would work with me on this one?
