Gray hair - HELP!
So, I have dyed my hair on my own since I was 20. I had a brief stint the year before I was married where I went to the salon to get my hair done there, but then wedding and baby happened, and no more money for that.
Ever since baby though, I find my hair dye doesn't stay on as long, and my gray hair keeps popping through
I do red - usually Garnier, Loreal, etc....
Any suggestions?

Re: Gray hair - HELP!
I have the same problem. At the salon, I can get 6 weeks. Doing it at home, even using salon quality supplies (from Sallys) I only get 4 weeks. I tried once with the stuff from the drugstore and it lasted 2 weeks.
I can't figure out how to make it last longer. I tried 'grey magic' and it just made my hair darker, didnt extend the time.
Considering the supplies from Sally are 3 to 4 dollars each time I do it; even though I'm doing it more often I'm still saving a bunch more money. It's just a pain that I need to do it more often.

Re: Gray hair - HELP!
Are you using other hair products that maybe are stripping your hair of the color quicker? sometimes salons do a glaze also after your coloring and that gives it some extra life.

Re: Gray hair - HELP!
I have been dying my gray hair now for over 14 years and I would say if I let my hair grow out I would be way more than 50% gray, and of course the majority of the gray is on the crown....so I always get a lovely skunk stripe on head before I dye again, but anyway the only over the counter hair dye that I have found that does not fade or wash out is Nice and Easy Gray Solution, and it has to be the Gray Solution one. It holds the color,(well for brown anyway I never tried red...) I still have to dye my hair every 4-5 weeks but that is only because my hair grows so fast and you see the white of the new growth not any fading. I rarely do a full color, I alway just do the roots and you would never know.
