Grandfather clock UPDATE

We inherited a Granfather Clock from DH's grandmother. It is a hanging one (not one that is standing). We can not seem to get the time to line up with the chimes though. It is so frustrating! I wound it up so it runs but no matter what I do, the chimes are 2 hours behind Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I have moved the hour hand and the minutes hand but to no avail. Any advice?

Update:
Well, I resorted to taking off the hands! Chat Icon Wish me luck, we will wait to see what happens. So far, so good!

Re: Grandfather clock

Hmmmm...I can ask my mom how she fixes her clock....there is an "art" to doing it otherwise it will chime off like yours...

I will ask her later how she sets hers.

and if you need a clock repair man....she has a fantastic one that comes to the house....its really a dying art and they are so hard to find.

Re: Grandfather clock

This happened with our clock. I forget exactly how we fixed it. But there was a button we had to press on the back a certain amount of times in order for the chimes to ring correctly. I'd have to take a look at my manual. I'm guessing you don't have the manual? Can you try calling the manufacturer of the clock?

Re: Grandfather clock

Nope, no manual! The clock is probably about 50 yrs old Chat Icon
Thank you Lisa, please let me know what your mom does, it is so frustrating! I got it down to 1 hour (from 2 hours) but I hate it not being right. Everytime I try to repeat what I did to fix from 2 hours off to only 1 hour off, it goes back to 2 hours Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon There MUST be a better way!
I did try googling it but I will try again. Thanks all!
