Got some bad new today..

We had an SA done on DH to prepare us for IVF if we needed to go that route, and the dr. called and told me that DH's morphology and motility were really bad.

He suggested going right to IVF on our next cycle.

We knew that for the most part MF was our main issue, but it still hurts to get a real confirmation. DH is being so quite that it worries me. This is a major blow to his ego, and self esteem even though he's not coming right out and saying it.

I happened to put in my application for the IVF grant in the mail even before I got the call, so maybe we can hear from them soon enough and can get "financially creative" as quickly as possible to come up with the rest of the $$.

...or maybe this iui cycle worked and we can have a laugh about it in nine months. Only I don't feel like laughing much right now.

Re: Got some bad new today..

I am sorry --- but how were they having you do IUIs without knowing this??? I would really question your RE about this - the SA is so important in an IUI!

The good news is -- MF is not a big deal when doing IVF. Hopefully you will get that grant!!

I agree totally with this, they must have looked at his sperm to do IUI when they were washing it?

I'll keep my fingers crossed on the grant, but check with you RE as Spitzer is cutting funding everywhere.

Like Kara says MF is not uch a big deal when you are doing IVF.

Re: Got some bad new today..

I'm so sorry. My DH's problem is morphology and I have PCOS, and we still managed to get pregnant.

Just keep the faith, girl!

Re: Got some bad new today..

We are dealing with the same problem....severe MF...low numbers on everything....

DH is on Clomid for the past 6 months...it is said to improve motility, morphology & count....he also had a surgery done to remove bilateral varicoceles which the doctors think were causing all his low numbers....we will see, we have another SA coming up (3 months after surgery)...Did you DH hava an ultrasonogram to check for varicoceles? Did he have hormones checked? that could be the reason too...My DH had low Testesterone levels so that is another reason why he was put on Clomid...

If DH's numbers don't improve in the next 6 months we will proceed to IVF...with only MF you have a great chance of getting pregnant on the first try....

Good luck!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I agree with you both!!

We went to LI/IVF after having done two different SA's at two different places. The second one was with a urologist who specialized in IF, and the count was 40 mil and 60% motility, so he said that he didn't see any issues with us going to an RA and gave us hope that IUI's would work for us. The RE I'm currently seeing never did his own, only looked at the urologist's report and went with that. He only did one now because we are preparting ourselves in case IVF was to be the next step.

All SIX times they looked at the reports after the washing, and they said nothing.

Each time the count varied, and so did the motility, so I think that had something to do with it, but I just can't help but to think that this dr doesn't think that I am a priority.

At this point, I don't know what to do. Many of you see this same dr and no one has had any complaints, so I don't know what to think of this whole thing.

At this point I'm in the 2ww, waiting to see if I get yet another bfn (sorry to be so negative, but that's how I feel at this point), and waiting to hear about the grant.

You know what . . . it doesn't matter how many of us are seeing the same MD and what our experiences are . . . you are not feeling like you are a priority and that is all you need to know to find yourself another RE. Lots of the girls here have switched from one RE to another for more or less of a reason than that.

Good luck!! Sending Chat Icon Chat Icon for the current 2WW and Chat Icon Chat Icon that there won't be a need to change REs b/c you have BFP!

I agree with this. Maybe you should call your Dr. and schedule an appointment to sit down and go over your problems and concerns. Maybe your husband's samples were okay before this so they didn't say anything.
I would definitely have a serious sitdown with your Dr. and explore the situation. You need to be completely comfortable with him, especially if you are going forward with IVF.

I also agree, I would sit down and talk it all thru.
