I think he will be fine and let the sitter do it.
I am a FTWM so I know 100% how you feel & how you are thinking, but like yourself I know I can't be at everything and I have to pick my spots.
If your Son was screaming the first day and would not leave your side, I would say maybe drop off and then go into work after, but since that is not the case & this will be his routine everyday, let the Sitter do it

I would let your babysitter drop him off so he gets used to the routine.

First day of nursery school...
I would let the babysitter do it. Dd just had her first day and they make drop off so fast so the kids don't have time to get upset. I barely got to say goodbye before they had her started on an activity. I think it would be a wasted day to take off, save it for a day you'll actually get to go in for a show or party or something.
