Good Sam or Southside Maternity for C-Section
If you had the option, which hospital would you choose for a scheduled c-section? I am going in for my 10 week appt on the 29th and my doctor said to decide where I would like to deliver, since they are affiliated at both.
My DD was born in FL, and most of my friends delivered at Stonybrook, so I don't have any first hand experiences to help me decide.

Good Sam or Southside Maternity for C-Section
I've delivered via c section at both-seems early for you to decide...what made me change this time around was I had my third and did a tubal ligation since we are done having children. I love my dr so those were my choices and there are pluses and minuses with each. Do you have specific questions?

Re: Good Sam or Southside Maternity for C-Section
My sil has a Csec at south side last February and will not be be delivering there with her 2nd. Labor and delivery nurses were great but up on maternity she was not impressed.

I'm sorry your sil had a bad experience! I thought the nurses I had were great-one was eh but she was overnight and I didn't need her much. I had a harder time with the lactation consultant and her methods.

Re: Good Sam or Southside Maternity for C-Section
I've delivered via c-section at both hospitals. Based on my own personal experience, I very much preferred southside.
I feel like my negative experience at GoodSam had more to do with the actual nurses that I had, their lack of lactation consultant help (at the time), and the fact that I shared a room with a very annoying roommate...
The 2nd time around at Southside, I did pay for a private room...so i am sure that was part of what made it better as well considering my previous experience lol.
But, what I think makes it a better choice, IMO, is that southside is owned by Northwell - so there is a lot of training that goes on, they follow stricter standards and there is more management in place. Good Sam is a catholic hospital, so its doesnt run as tight a ship. Thats just my opinion based off my own experience.

Re: Good Sam or Southside Maternity for C-Section
I had both my kids at Southside (one natural and one emergency C-section). I loved all the nurses in both L&D and the maternity floor. I'll be going back this summer for #3.
ETA: I also paid for a private room. Well worth it, IMO.

I loved my experience at Southside. The nurses were great from L&D to the maternity floor. I did pay for a private room- that was a 100% necessity for me and worth every single freakin' penny!

Re: Good Sam or Southside Maternity for C-Section
I delivered all 3 of my boys at Good Sam. I had great experiences each time. My L&D nurses were awesome. The maternity unit nurses were terrific too. When I had my 2nd, the new mother/child wing opened so I took advantage of that for my 2nd and 3rd. Made a huge difference. Worth every penny. I had zero complaints about delivering there.
