Re: good deal or no - rav 4

if you get them down to about 19,500 or a little higher, then your payment will be roughly $300.

Don't negotiate on payment.

I tried to neg on price but the lady was insistent on negotiation on payments. I was like i want to be under 20K, she's says, "well what would you like your payments to be?" So I say well 249 would be great (yeah right), So she says cant do that only if you put more down. She says, " the best I can do is 326?" So I said I would talk to her later. I hung up and though, well its a start but I want to stay under 300.00.

I have a pathfinder lease now at 288.96 put 3k at signing on a 28K car. Why on a 21K car is the payment higher? Her answer, " Price has nothing to do with a lease and times were different in 2005 dealers were giving things awayChat Icon "

she is lying to you. Price has everything to do with a lease. Is she just pulling numbers out of her butt?

I agree.. she is talking out of her arse. I would go down there and deal with someone ELSE at her dealership.

Yes, like her boss. Frankly, I would have walked away. Since when does a lease have nothing to do with the price or value of the car? You can't possibly come up with numbers if you don't have a price.

The Rav4 has lots of competition out there. They don't have to give it away, but they don't have to play you for a fool.

Go to another dealer if you are not happy.

Have you gone to Edmunds.com? That's where you find out the invoice price and you can negotiate from a place of power and knowledge.

I hate the car biz.

I agree! I just went through a doozy in getting my last truck. They really are a piece of work. But in the end, I won! lol

The bold statements are exactly the reasons why I DONT lease cars. Dealers use leases to try to rip people off. I can't be bothered with dealing with stupidity from dealers.
