Gone are the days...
when I could talk on the phone. Use the remote. Use my laptop. Use my backberry. When my son is around.
My child is obsessed with electronic devices. The second he sees me on the phone he comes over and grabs it from me or presses all of the buttons while it is up to my ear. Obviously I can fight him off but then he has a fit. And then I can't even go on with the conversation because he is screaming so loud.
And god forbid I take my laptop out. Either he wants to take his sticky paws and pound on the keys or he wants to open and close the cover except he doesn't know how to open it so again, he has a fit.
I can deal with the remote thing. Typically if the tv is on and he is around we're watching kids stuff anyway.
And my blackberry. I try to put it on standby but then the lights don't light up and guess what. yep, he has a fit!
I think my son thinks he's the boss. I think my son is right.

My dd also has an obsession with shoes.. cant leave them around otherwise she wants to play with them

Thomas is the same way. It's hysterical. And he knows the difference between and real remote and a toy remote and he also knows the difference between a cell phone and a cell phone without the battery in it!

I can relate. DS was obsessed with the telephone for a while, then the cordless, still obsessed with any cell phone that actually works. I have to hide my Blackberry from him.
He is truly smitten with the vacuum though. I catch him hugging it, feeding it cookies, if I hide it he goes looking for it. Makes me vacuum the min he sees it. When people come to visit he shows them the darn thing.
I must admit I have a very clean floor but I hope this obsession fades!!

Right now my DD is watching videos on noggin.com in one (minimized) browser as I surf the net on another browser. My DD is OBSESSED with the laptop. I don't even want to tell about the FIT she had before we landed in this position!  
I don't even attempt to talk to anyone on the phone aside from my mom when DD is around (my mom gladly humors all the button pressing and pauses in conversation!  ).
All remotes are hidden.
Shall I go on?

haha, at least it is a productive obsession.
The goal here would be to teach him how to vacuum. Now that would be awesome!

Yup! That's Lucas too. I try to give him the old cell phone that no longer works...kept him happy for a day...not he gets angry because there are no lights or picture.

DD loves my laptop...but only if she gets to watch Sesame Street video's...which is impossible to do, if I'm working  I gave her an old keyboard to pound away on...but, she doesn't like to use it...only mine! I feel your pain!
