Gonal questions?

What am I in for? I'm used to needles as long as they arent huge and don't hurt. Does it make you more hormonal?

I'm kinda surprised they are putting me on it because I normally make 2 good size follies on femara, but I heard it helps with egg quality. Is that so?

They also want to check my blood sugar to see if I'm insulin resistant and might put me on metformin. I heard that gives you..er, bathroom issues.

Re: Gonal questions?

Gonal for me has only caused bloat. It's not so bad Chat Icon As far as being hormonal....... I don't even know what my "normal" is anymore because I'm always on some kind of hormone.. the pill, gonal, pregnancy, etc Chat Icon Chat Icon It does not hurt AT ALL .. it's the tiniest needle and a quick inject!! If you're worried about it, you can ice first and then you def won't feel a thing. I only iced it the first couple of times I used it a year ago though!! In my opinion, it's not necessary Chat Icon After IVF meds, Gonal is actually my "favorite" inject Chat Icon

Metformin has been fine for me. When I first started it, it made me nauseous but it didn't last long.. maybe a few days... They told me to take 1500mg and I took it all at once. I told the office I was getting nauseated, so they said to go down to 750 and build up. That worked perfectly for me. I currently have no side effects- though I have been on it for soooo long.

ETA: Ask for Metformin XR (it's the extended release version.. supposed to cause less side effects!!)

Re: Gonal questions?

Gonal was super easy - very small needles...painless! Didn't have any side effects from it.

Metformin is evil in my opinion! Took me about a month to get used to it. I actually even pooped in my pants! I spent a lot of time in the bathroom those first few weeks. But once your body gets used to it, you are fine.

Re: Gonal questions?

nal really gave me no side effects luckily. I did have bloating, and the shot itself didnt hurt. Its more the initial getting ready that gave me the anxiety but just keep telling yourself what its for and then before you know its overChat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks girls!

I'm wondering if the gonal constipation will be balanced out by the metformin issues Chat Icon
