Going to register this weekend....
I went last weekend and put the big items on my registry (car seat, stroller, etc.). I plan on going this weekend to take care of the "smaller things". I just feel so overwhelmed already. I mean, how am I supposed to know how many receiving blankets to register for? Or onesies? Any advice?

You can register for as many as you want. I wouldnt worry about too many b/c you dont know how quicky baby will grow and dont want to get stuck with onesies you wont use.. plus youll always end up going back and buying more. Recieving blankets.. i put some plus i also put cloth diapers on and used those .. they are great.

babies r us and buy buy baby give checklists. we used those- and also speak to friends with babies, we relied on them a lot!

Do you have Baby Bargains? They have recommendations on how many blankets, onesies, etc. you'll need. I wouldn't register for too many clothes b/c people will buy you the clothes they want. Also, it can be difficult to find the exact oneies/clothes that you registered for in the store.
