Re: Going for my 1st IUI this week..
My first one was a tiny bit painful but the 2nd one not at all. It really depends on the Dr and I had 2 differrent Drs for them.
Its a quick proceedure. 2mins and then they had me lay down for 20 mins and then I'd just go about my day. One was at night so I jsut ook it easy the other was in the morning so I went to work.

It is over pretty quickly, and like pp said it depends on how the doctor adminsters the catheder. Mine didn't hurt, but I felt some cramping afterwards, but not too bad.
Good luck!!

Re: Going for my 1st IUI this week..
Congrats! Mental note before you begin- when you had your HSG, was it difficult for the Dr. to get the catheter into your cervix? if so, let them know ahead of time. This may make a difference in your comfort.
It is such a quick and simple procedure. You lay down and they insert the speculum, ease the catheter up through the cervix, and inject the sample. They then show you the sonogram so that you can see the sample was placed where it should be. You wait 10 minutes lying down, and then you can go. That's it!
Best of luck! We're having our 2ww together!

Re: Going for my 1st IUI this week..
I had my first IUI last month and it was very quick and painless! The only uncomfortable thing for me was when they use the spectulum they don't use any gel. The whole procedure lasted a few mins and I had minor cramping after. Good luck!
