Godparent gift? Religious store rec. needed
My best friend from college just asked me to be the godmother to her new baby boy!
Looking for some suggestions for a gift. This is her second DS so she has the christening outfit already. They are a practicing Catholic family, so I want to do something besides money. I was thinking a gold cross or medal---any other ideas?
Also, does anyone know of any Catholic gift shops in the Huntington area? I know of Advent in RVC, but would like something closer.
TIA!

I think a gold cross would be a great idea! I would probably just go to a couple of jewelry stores and see if you like anything.

There is one on Larkfield Rd just north of the East Northport Library (north of Pulaski). It's called Good News I remember walking passed there a few times and noticing the hours being a bit strange so I'd call first.

I think the cross is nice. Just check and make sure that they don't have any family traditions about who gives it. My family.. the godmother does. But, I would go to a jewlery store. I find that I like those crosses much better than anything I can get a religous store.

yes Chiarellis on 110 in Melville... there is also a small store on Gerard St in Huntington village called Mariamante or something like that. I have gotten cards there but they have a nice, small selection of gifts too.

I agree, check into the traditions of the family. In ours, the Godmother gets the Christening outfit, the Godfather gets the cross.
A close friend did get us a religious gift for DD, it's a nice bank shaped like a bible with a pink cross on it. Simple but nice.
