Glucose Tolerance Test
I have my 1-hour test tomorrow. What can I expect? Will they let me walk around, drink water?

i dont believe i was able to have water once the test started
i sat in the lab the entire time, but could walk around the lab if i wanted to - not that there were many places to go.

You can't eat or drink for the whole hour, even water. You pretty much just hang out in the waiting room until it's time for them to do the blood draw.

My OB did my test so I drank the stuff as soon as I got there, had my u/s, my exam, and then it was basically an hour and had my blood drawn. You can't eat or drink before the blood draw, once you drink the stuff, though.

I brought a book- I could walk around the waiting room but as the other posters said- I couldn't drink or eat.

You cannot eat or drink once the test starts. I was allowed to go downstairs and make an ultrasound appointment but the told me that they really do not want you walking around. I brought my iPad and read and checked email, etc. The hour went pretty fast. The worst part is drinking the glucose drink in 5 minutes or less-yuck!

Yeah I got yelled out and dressed down in front of a waiting room of people at Quest for taking a SIP of water.
So I guess no water is allowed.
They also didn't let me leave the waiting area- but there was a bakery next door so maybe they thought the temptation of a pastry would be too much for me and I'd ruin my test?

Glucose Tolerance Test
If you have a choice, I recommend the orange and not the lemon lime. Orange wasn't too bad but the lemon lime made me nearly yak. I only forced myself to keep it down so I wouldn't have to do it again.
