Glucose Test... update

I have a script for it and was gonna go today to the lab on my lunch break (probably take an early lunch).

The OB didn't say anything about fasting or what to eat.
I don't remember what I did the last time.
Am I supposed to fast or eat something light? I have cereal for breakfast, but I guess i can have it after the test.
I usually have a cup of coffee in the morning as well, but I figured that's not a good idea.

Any advise?

Thanks

Update - so I just went to labcorp anyway and did it this morning. SInce I didn't eat since last night I guess it's considered fasting for it.
I passed with DS and did the same thing so hopefully will pass this time

Anyone know how long it takes to get the results?
Thanks!

my dr said i didnt need to fast. he said to eat normally the day of the test and the days leading up to the test. but i've seen other girls on here whose dr's told them to fast. so i guess it's all different! maybe call your dr and ask just to make sure?

Re: Glucose Test

With DS, I fasted and passed by only 1 point (129)

With DD, I made sure to have only protein that morning (a slice of turkey and a slice of cheese) and I passed with flying colors (88).

I know they were two different pregnancies but IMO, I would eat something (protein, not carbs) so you don't feel like you want to puke having all that sugar on a empty stomach Chat Icon

And yes, I know that eating carbs won't drastically change your results- if you have GD, you have it - but that was for my OWN piece of mind. Chat Icon

Re: Glucose Test

With my first pg, I ate ice cream at 10 pm the night before my test (about 10 hours before) and I failed by a few points. I just took my one hour on Monday with this pg and I did not eat anything after 6 pm and had my test at 9 am and I just found out that I passed! So I recommend fasting.

Call your Dr and ask. I was recommended to fast 12 hours prior.

Re: Glucose Test

I had to fast for 8 hours for my 1st pregnancy.

I should be getting my script to go for mine today. Im going to fast anyway, because i dread this test. I want to avoid having to take the 3 hour one again. That was touture for me.

my appointment is in the morning next week and the doctor said to eat breakfast then drink the drink. you might want to double check since each doctor seems to have their own rules.

Re: Glucose Test... update

My doctor didn't tell me to fast or not to fast. I went first thing in the morning though, so I guess you can say I fasted for about 10 hours before the test.

The lady told me that since I took the test so early, my doctor would get the results the same day I took the test (later in the day). I found out the result the next day.

I went to Sunrise Labs this morning...I hadn't eaten anything since dinner (6pm last night). The woman at the lab told me that the results will be in tomorrow, just call my doctor.

Re: Glucose Test... update

I have to do the one-hour glucose test early (not because I'm old but because of my age Chat Icon). I'm doing it on Saturday morning and do not have to fast.
