Glucose test question...please answer before morning
I have my glucose test in the morning. My doctors office gave me the drink to drink on my way to the appointment. But now my friend is telling me that for her one hour, they took two blood tests, one before she started drinking the liquid and one after she finished. Is this what usually happens? Ive never heard of that before. And, is it only one vial of blood? I HATE BLOOD TESTS!

For my one hour, they only took blood once and that was an hour after I drank the drink.

I have mine next tuesday.....and they gave me the drink so there is no way when i go that they will draw blood beforehand - just once.....but a friend of mine had to go and drink it at her ob's office - they don't give it out there - so it might depend on your dr....but since you have the drink, probably they will only draw it once! good luck!

I only had to get a fingerstick and it was the one hour after I drank it.

Ok, this is what annoys me about this test. How accurate can a test be that has so many variations? I had to have blood drawn at the lab, then drink the drink , then an hour later, they drew my blood again. They took a whole vile each time. So how is it that some people don't have blood drawn first and some do, and some people have a finger stick done and others a whole vile drawn?
I mean, I'm past that stage now, but I find it odd that it's so different for everyone.

For the one hour, I just had blood drawn at the end of the hour.
For the three hour, they drew fasting blood (before I drank - by the way, they also needed a urine sample), then one hour after the drink, 2 hours, and 3 hours after.

for mine they only took blood once - after the drink an hr later....my girlfriend had her taken 2x though...I asked my dr about this - he said it just depends on how the dr wrote up the script.

I agree there should be one standard way of doing it. My dr. did warn me that the fingerstick could give a false high but I passed with the fingerstick so there was no need to draw blood from the vein.

For my one hour I drank the solution and then went to my doctor's office to have blood drawn (through the vein) one hour later.
For the 3 hour I had to go to the lab and they took my blood before, then I drank it and they took it every hour for 3 hours.

It was the 3 hour that they took blood first.

They only do one blood test after the hour of drinking the stuff.
I believe with the 3 hour they take your blood before, during and after. Maybe that's what they're talking about?
