glucose test - for those who have done it at quest diagnostics
My dr. just gave me a prescription to get this done at quest. On the form, its called "Glucose, gestational screen". On quest's website, you have to check off why are making an appointment. One option is "glucose tolerance". Is that the same thing as what we are being tested for? I ask because not all quest locations offer "glucose tolerance", so I need to make sure that this is what we need when filling out the online appointment form. Thanks!

It is the same thing... if there is a free text area i would just put a side note that it is 1 hour tollerance for pregnancy... but if not it is not a big deal

Nope, that one is the 3 hour one. For the 1 hour one, you just put routine screening. Otherwise it doesn't let you select a weekend.
ETA: I am sure because I called them because I was confused about what to select on the website.

Thanks! I actually couldn't get an appointment at anytime after 3:30 any day this week at any location near me, so I am going to go as a walk-in after work tomorrow. I hope it works out - their website says "walk-ins are always welcome" .... lets see!

They would write down if its for the 3 hour test. That is just for the one hour. When you go online you just choose glucose tolerance no matter one hour or 3 hour. I would never go to quest without an appointment. You will sit there for hours. It takes 2 minutes to make an appt online...if you go when its busy they take everyone before you that have appointments. Good luck, because when i went for the 3 hour...i saw so many people just sit and wait for over an hour at a time and i would just go back when i needed my blood drawn each hour.

Definitely make an appt - after taking my three hour test there - I would never go back without one!

That's because you were selecting glucose tolerance and they close at either 6:30pm or 7pm, so you can't start that at 3:30pm. If you select routine testing, you can select a later time.

Re: glucose test - for those who have done it at quest diagnostics
I went at 3:30 today, and was seen by 3:50. There were no appointments available ever after 3:30, and I wasn't going to take off work for the one hour test.
Now, lets pray I don't need the 3 hour one!
Thanks for all your advice ladies. I took a gamble, and I'm so glad it was worth it. I really couldn't afford to take a day off for this.

i go to the quest in setauket on technology drive - i have never made an appt and never waited more than 10 min. its usually dead in there. i go for all my routine blood work there.
I know some quest diagnostics are busier than others. if ur close to that one definitely give it a try.
