glass bottles??
Are you going to use glass bottles? I might be a little slow to catch up, but what's the deal with the plastic ones? Should I make the switch?

Re: glass bottles??
We are gonna use Born Free plastic bottles. They are the only bottle on the market that can be put in the dishwasher. From what I understand, there are chemicals in other plastic bottles that can get into the baby's formula. Born Free bottles do not have that chemical (the name of the chemical escapes me for some reason)

Re: glass bottles??
I would use plastic but make sure they do not have Bisphenol A in them. Its a chemical that is dangerous and in many plastic bottles. Born Free does not have this chemical, this is what we will use. I think this is better than glass, because glass will break when the baby drops them.

Re: glass bottles??
I am using Dr. Brown's Glass bottles with my and I have no problems with them. For some reason, I didn't want to use plastic - I felt that they would be harder to keep clean and get the formula smell out - kind of like Tupperware that lets that food smell seep in and no matter how much you clean them it won't get out. I know, I am strange and that's probably not the case with plastic bottles. It's all in my head I am sure... sorry!!! But either way - I am a fan of Dr. Brown's glass

They do. I bought the Dr. Brown glass bottles from BRU. They also carry Born Free glass bottles and Evenflo glass as well.

Re: glass bottles??
no glass for me. after watching my kids throw plastic bottles all over the house (even cracking a few), the last thing I need is having them toss glass bottles around. That's more dangerous, IMO, than anything.

My DD is 18 months old we've used glass since she was 3 months. she's off bottles now.. actually been off bottles since she's been big into throwing things....
Just wanted to let you know- she never, ever broke the glass bottles (we used evenflo)- they are very very sturdy.

I'm glad!
But I know that for me, and knowing how clumsy I am, I would def be the one to shatter one.

My mom dropped one on my ceramic tile floor... The thing didn't break!!!!!!!!!! Don't worry if you are a little clumsy... it's totally ok!

i'm not sure. there are some other plastic bottles on the market that are bpa free, though. although i am going to use dr. brown's, i know lots of people think they are a pain and born free are very expensive. here is a link with more info bpa free bottle report

Re: glass bottles??
we registered for the bornfree glass bottles.
My attitude on plastic vs glass is this....
plastic is filled with petroleum chemicals, and there will be other chems in them that they will find out are harmful as time goes by.
glass has been around forever, and all baby bottles were glass for many years. Dishwasher-safe is also a great added bonus
We'll go glass. If the time comes and Crouton shatters enough bottles, we'll switch over. I'll wait for that to happen though.

this is very smart.. I was using plastic till my daughter had many issues and the specialist said we should be using glass bottles ONLY!
We are using the plain old evenflo ones and they work fine and I have dropped them.. NOTHING
they are OLD SCHOOL .. we didn't break out glass bottles so dont worry!

Same here. My mom used glass for me and my brother and we never broke a bottle, apparently they aren't as easy to break as other glass items.

Re: glass bottles??
If you plan on giving Breast Milk in bottle, the white blood cells adhere to the glass bottles, thats why they dont recommended them.
If plastic just find ones with none of that chemical in the plastic, i forgot the name of it. I know dr. browns and born free dont have it.

Re: glass bottles??
The one thing that does concern me though is their weight. Are they heavy?? I don't want my DC to knock themselves out if they feed themselves the bottle! My DD started feeding herself (the bottle that is) around 10 months.
