Girls later in pregnancy...
How much should I be spending on maternity clothes? Or really, how much should I be buying?
I was hoping to just get a few pairs of pants and a few tops, but my SIL told me I'd basically need a whole new wardrobe.

Re: Girls later in pregnancy...
I think it depends on if you work. I had 2 pairs of black old navy maternity leggings, 2 gray ON pants and one pair of black ON pants. I had 2 sweaters, 3 t-shirts, 2 short-sleeved sweaters (I loved!), 2 short-sleeve blouses, 2 maternity tank tops, 2 long-sleeve shirts that buttoned-up, three pairs of workout pants/sweats, and two dresses.
That got me through the entire late pregnancy. (It was winter.)
In the early pregnancy (summer/fall) I wore sundresses almost exclusively, mostly non-maternity.
HTH! I didn't consider this a new wardrobe. It actually felt like I wore the same stuff over and over.

Re: Girls later in pregnancy...
I didn't need work clothes, so I barely had to buy new things in comparison to some other women. I bought around 7 tops (all fairly basic colors, so that I could easy mix and match), 2 leggings, 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of yoga pants, and a maternity dress. I had a lot of non-maternity blazers and cardigans, so I would wear that over the shirts to mix it up. I also had to buy a couple of new bras since my cup size unfortunately grew. Pretty basic, but I've survived. I usually like to spend a lot on clothing, but I figured that I would save a lot of money by just accessorizing some basic maternity clothes.

I'm 23 weeks with twins and the doc told me that i was growing as if I was 33 weeks with a single baby. i have only bought 2 pairs of jeans my whole pregnancy and a few tops. I refuse to spend a lot of stuff that I wont were for long.

Re: Girls later in pregnancy...
oh I DEFINITELY did not get a whole new wardrobe. My attitude was that I would be growing throughout those 10 months and really only getting to wear the maturnity clothes half that time. Seems like a waste of money to go TOO crazy. I ended up just buying 2 pairs of pants and maybe about 10 tops (including a mix of shirts, blouses, & sweaters). But it really depends on where you work and how much you'd need. I work at a preschool so it's not as though I needed dressy clothes or even to 'impress' any clients. I did a lot of layers to change things up, but tried to always keep it simple.

I bought alot of stuff. I found i needed alot of work clothes, and pants I bought to wear in the 1st and 2nd trimesters (no panel) just DID NOT fit come the 3rd. If you work full time I'd agree, you're gonna need a significant amount of clothes

Re: Girls later in pregnancy...
So far I've got 2 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of work pants and probably 10 tops that I just rotate through. I didnt buy a lot of winter tops since I'm due May 10th. I bought alot of 3/4 sleeve or short sleeve tops and I have a few maternity cartigans that I wear over them. I'm being stuborn and trying not to go crazy with the clothes.

Re: Girls later in pregnancy...
Definitely didn't need a new wardrobe. Got two pairs of black pants, two pairs of jeans, some cute tops, one turtleneck and two long sleeve t-shirts so far. Might need to buy a few short sleeve tops for spring since I am due in May but I'm trying to hold out. Oh almost forgot my favorite maternity item, my velour pants and jacket from Destination Maternity. I wish I could live in that thing!
