Gifts necessary?

DS went to camp through school district for 6 Weeks...he ended up needing an aide in the classroom the last two weeks .. never met her. There were other counselors working with him as well... i never directly met these people ...is it rude not give them anything? Should I bring in bagels to their lunch room?

I would speak openly with the camp director about what is appropriate. Since this is at a school district there is probably a gift policy in place.

Re: Gifts necessary?

I'm not familiar with how camps work. At the daycare/preschool I worked at before DD was born though, I started off as a personal aid to one little guy in the toddler room. His mother never even acknowledged me really. I didn't expect any gifts or anything, but it would have been nice to have her try to know the person spending so much time with her son each day. When I moved up and became the head teacher of the preschool room, I had an aid in my room who worked one-on-one with a child in my class and she DID have a good relationship with the mother. They spoke daily, but again, I don't recall any gifts though maybe they did at the end of the year and I just didn't see.

So I think just taking the time to meet and show appreciation for them speaks volumes and is very much valued in itself. Though you can never go wrong with a small gift too Chat Icon I don't know if it's necessary though! I agree with PP about talking to the director. I really have no experience where it comes to camp protocol.

I decided on not bringing anything in ... it was six weeks of camp - half day ... not regular FT school or daycare.
