Gifts for your ILs
Do you do all the thinking of ideas/shopping?
I swear, I don't think Rich would have even realized that Mother's Day is next week if I hadn't said "We're going to buy your mother a gift today."
I always come up with an idea (although she never likes ANYTHING - except for the 1 yr we set a "bucket of chips" to her hotel room...she was in Vegas for mother's day)...I'm tired of coming up with an idea, hunting it down to buy it, then she NEVER uses it!

The worst is when they wasted Jersey Boys tickets that I bought 5 months in advance and gave them for Christmas. . Isn't that hurtful!?!? They go to oldies shows often, i thought they would've LOVED jersey boys..but NO - they wasted the tickets! They didn't even sell the tickets! They just didn't go. I was so hurt.

aww that stinks- they should have given you the tickets to use...
maybe get something simple- a bunch of lotto scratch offs, a nice card- and flowers... or a bottle of wine if they drink it
the scratch offs- you can string them- and then put them in a small box and she can open and open and open... it would be a cute way to give it

Re: Gifts for your ILs
I usually pick out the gifts, but when DH does they usually aren't good.
Like for Mothers Day, his brother and him bought his mom a digital picture frame. My MIL doesn't use the computer at all, she doesn't have a digital camera. It's going to sit and collect dust.

Re: Gifts for your ILs
I've been in your shoes.
At some point I realized I was doing all the searching, buying and wrapping for his family.
So I've gone on strike.
He NEVER helps me look for things for my family, so I decided that he was able to get presents for his family for 24 years without me and he can do it without me now!!

I would have been so pizzed if they didn't use those tickets - that was such a thoughtful gift!!!
Dh's family is extremely low key and they really don't want anything besides lotto tickets (I SWEAR!!!!) So it makes my life very easy!

Re: Gifts for your ILs
His mother loves scratch offs, but she only "plays" particular games...only cashword, bingo, etc.
His father HATES scratchoffs!
His Dad's bday is 1 week after Father's Day...I stumped!
