Gifts for day Care/Preschool workers

So there are now FOUR teachers in Ryans class, and two different after school teahcers. He only goes twice a week.

I got them all a thing of chocoalte covered pretzels (just a little something). I wanted to get the head teacher something else, like a gift card. BUt how much? And what about the 3 other "teachers". This is out of control!

So the question is if it really takes a village to raise a child, do we have to give gifts to the ENTIRE village?

I'm with you. 2 before school teachers, 1 Kindergarten teacher & many, many aftercare teachers for Joseph- PLUS Maddie's 2 teachers.

I'm going with giftcards for everyone! I used to do $40-50 with Joseph because well, let's face it he makes them earn it. Now that they get summers off from him blus major benefits, I'm dropping down to $30 and a nice heartfelt letter.

Head teacher, I would get $30 - at least that's what I'm doing. The rest I'm getting $20. I think you should do $25 and then for the other 3 just give them the pretzels.

Don't get them a mall gift certificate because they charge you additional fees. Opt for a store like Borders, Macy's, Target. I'm also doing a letter thanking them for the help - and will ask Joseph things like "What do you like best about Mrs. So&SO?" and incorporate it into the letter. Then I make him draw on the outside of the card.

This year we have a class mother who collected $20 from each parent - $10 per teacher - for my sons class. It felt kind of cheap to me but this is my oldest child whose not involved in any extracurricular activities yet so Im doling out $$ left and right. Last year I gave his teachers $25 Target card & some chocolates. I might get them something extra, like Barb said, they earn an extra something in our case

We also had a mom collect $10 from each of us for the teacher and her assistant (DS goes 3 days/week for 2.5 hours). I thought that wasn't enough, so I bought them each a $15 box of Godiva. Who doesn't like Godiva?

I went to Costco and got some food, candy and nut things for each teacher (4 of them). They cost about $12/peice. I can't afford to be spending tons of money on the teachers.

I got the 2 teachers and owner a $25 AMEX gift card. It's going in a nice bag with chocolates and other candy.
