gift etiquette for children's parties
We are invited to our first birthday party for DS's friend! What is the etiquette for children's gifts, i'm not sure how much to spend? It is for a 2 y/o girl, do i give a toy, clothes, or just a gift card?? And if a toy suggestions would be great i have no clue! TIA!

I like to buy on sale and have a gift closet. So I might spend $20 but the gift is worth more. For a 2 year old girl - little people, play dough, dolls, puzzles, books. I generally don't give clothing as gifts to other people's kids, but my kids have received gift cards.

For a 2 year old, little people stuff works too, just include a gift receipt!

I recently started doing art baskets - a cardboard box in the shape of a train or dollhouse, with paints, paintbrushes crayons, markers, stickers, glitter glue, scissors, patterned craft paper, glue sticks... wrapped up in cellophane. Depending on who it is for, I have coupled it with a small gift card to the craft store for their "next project".
My DS loves stuff like this and we go through it like crazy.
Hopefully the other moms don't hate me, lol.
