getting used to daycare
Did your child take right to daycare or did it take a while? Did they cry a lot and if so for how long....DS has been going for a week and cries ALL day, they tell me this is normal the first few weeks but I jsut feel so bad, he doesn't even play, eat or anything....
IT's only bee na week but I've read that if it lasts for three- four that maybe your child is not ready, my DS is two...

Re: getting used to daycare
I'm sorry to hear that. DS took about a week to adjust, but he also started at 3 months. The first week they said (and I saw) he was very quiet and just looked around a lot kinda confused. Some time in the middle of the 2nd week there was a huge difference. DS has been there over 4 months now and loves it.

Re: getting used to daycare
Sophia started on the 4th, and seems to love it. With that said, she's only 4 months old.
I was warned that it could take a couple weeks to adjust, and to expect a lot of crying.
I know she had to have had a rough first day because she was sooooo tired when we brought her home. She would usually fall asleep at 1130 pre-daycare, and after than first day she fell asleep at 930, and slept until 7am the next day
it takes time, but he'll learn to love it!

Re: getting used to daycare
it takes a child a few weeks to adjust. I worked in day care for the last 6 years, and I have seen how upset some children will get. It has to become a part of their routine first before they becomie use to it. It also stinks when it comes to the weekend ,cause they have 2 days off and think they aren't going back there, only to find out monday morning they are.

My DS went to daycare at 3 months and never had a problem...he (thankfully) always smiles at his teacher and seems happy to be there and aroudn the other kids.

Same with my DD...but I think it is a totally different story with older kids...when they "know" more.
