getting sick at the very end?
I'm 39 wks and last night felt so queasy. Once I vomited (a very small amount, I wasn't like hacking up a lung) I felt soooo much better and continue to feel fine today. I'm curious if I just ate too much (and since there's a full grown baby pressing down on my stomach it just didnt sit well). But today my MIL told me "Oh, it's not normal to vomit you should call the doctor" I HATE when people say stuff like that. Do you think this is something to be concerned about?
I read online that sometimes when you're nearing labor the body senses it coming and will try to clean you out (with vomitng or diahrrea). So maybe it could be that
Anybody else experience this?

Re: getting sick at the very end?
My MIL told me that the night she went into labor with DH, she had chinese food (old wives tale) and she ended up throwing up the entire meal in bed on her husband and then she went into labor.
This was in the 70s, though. Maybe just call your OB and advise them what happened and they can advise you if you need to eat/do something differently.

Re: getting sick at the very end?
I know that diarrhea is common right before labor because it's your body's way of cleaning itself out. I would assume if you just vomited once that could be the same thing.
However, a friend of mine was vomiting nonstop for a week before they finally admitted her for an emergency c-section because of preclampsia (sp?)
Just keep an eye on it, but I'm sure it's just your body getting ready for your LO

Re: getting sick at the very end?
I am sure it is normal, but you can call your Dr. I am 33w and I had horrible M/S in the beginning and it is starting to come back, which I have read/heard is very normal I hope you feel better and hopefully your LO will be here soon

Re: getting sick at the very end?
it's funny you posted this... just about an hour ago, I started to feel SO nauseous and sick to my stomach- almost like 1st trimester sickness... i don't usually throw up though (I'm 38 weeks)

Re: getting sick at the very end?
There were times towards the end with DS that I felt sick and threw up. Honestly in my 3rd trimester...especially at the end I felt very similar to my first trimester.
Check with your doc to be sure but I personally think it's normal.

Re: getting sick at the very end?
WOW, i'm also at 39 weeks and just waiting to give birth already...however, last week i had flu like symptoms (minus the fever) and this week i now have a hacking cough!!! Im not nauseaus or anything, but with the coughing, and the pressure down below, and the fact that i have to pee every five minutes...i feel like I should prepare myself and put on a pair of Depends!!
Hope you feel better soon...and wishing you a safe delivery sometime very soon!!

Re: getting sick at the very end?
My sister did experience the diarrhea and vomiting, but it was in the hospital during labor, so I don't know about it happening a few days before. What a cruel joke, to be in labor, and have to deal with vomiting and diarrhea too! I don't think that happens all the time though-it didn't happen to me when I was in labor. Good luck!!

Re: getting sick at the very end?
My SIL threw up a few times when she was in full blown labor w/her 1st DS. I just assumed it was from the pain & b/c she was nervous but maybe it was her body cleaning itself out.....very interesting!
