I cut a hole is DS, really tiny at first, and every few days I made it bigger. He couldn't use it after about 2 weeks, and when there was nothing left but the plastic part, he slept with that part tucked in his little hand for about a month. Good luck!

Re: getting rid of the binky? I need help

For about a week before her 2nd bday I kept telling her that she's going to be a big girl and the paci is for babies. We also started the toddlers bed and the potty all after her 2nd birthday kept telling her how proud we are and she's such a big girl...the night after her bday she asked for her paci and I just said but thats for babies and your a big girl now and she was ok with that! She asked for it a few times after that and when ever she did I would just say no thats for babies your a big girl now and she would just say I am a big girl
Its almost a month now and all is good just make sure they are completely gone...out of sight out of mind...she saw one once and freaked a little

We just got rid of it cold turkey the week of their 2nd bday. they were using it for naps and nightime only. The first night DD cried for 3.5 hours, that was really hard. The second night she cried for 10 minutes. The third night no crying. DS never cried at all. After a week they both stopped asking for it.

i made DD put them in a plastic bag and throw them in the garbage (cold turkey)
the first night she fell asleep without it the second night she fell asleep but woke up crying for like 30 minutes then went back to sleep the third night she was fine but looking at her in her sleep she would still move her mouth like she had a paci

I share this all the time... This is what my cousin has done with both kids and it worked like a charm with both.

She told them when they turned 2, that Santa Claus wanted them to give him all their pacis to bring to little babies who needed them. On Christmas Eve they put all of them on or under the tree for Santa to take, and he left them a special present to say thank you. Neither of them had a problem giving them up!

Of course, it needs to be Christmas time for it to work, lol. Or maybe the Easter bunny could act as Santa if that's closer to the right age! Gotta be creative. Chat Icon

When DS was 18m he chewed a hole in them and I only had 2 of the ones he liked, once they got a hole he wouldn't use them. It only took 2 or 3 days and he never mentioned it again. Like your DC he only used them for naps and sleeping. Good luck!

This worked fantastically with my DD...she was a lil under 2.5....it was great..she was old enough to get it and never asked questions..and knew that her new toys were her "prize"

But now I have my DS and I dont want to wait that long...he is 2.5 now and we are going to do it soon...I wish it was Christmas now! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think I am going to convienently "forget it" somewhere or cut a hole in it!

Not looking fwd to that first night! He is A LOT more attached to it than his sister was! Chat Icon Chat Icon
