Getting on a plane with an epipen

DD has a severe peanut allergy so we now travel with an epipen wherever we go. Do you think I need a note from the MD? I searched the faa website and while I found a section on prescription meds I didn't see anything specific about a medication with a needle on it. Don't want to run into any problems.

Good to know do you show it to security right away or leave it in your carry on luggage and have it go through the conveyor belt?

Re: Getting on a plane with an epipen

It is always in my pocketbook along with a strip of benadryl, so it is visible during screening. Once, it was taken out in Abu Dhabi, and I explained that it is medication, she read the back of it and gave it back to me.

I never have a problem with it in my pocketbook.

Re: Getting on a plane with an epipen

I put it in the plastic Ziploc with the rest of my liquids and have never had a problem.

ETA: Actually, now that I think about it, I've had it in my diaper bag our last two trips and no one ever asked me about it.
