So my daughter still has blood in her stool..this is an ongoing nightmare..so, insurance is BCBS of Minnesota and they denied coverage of neocate unless she needs a feeding tube! This stuff is super expensive..has anyone run into this and what did you do???

Re: Getting Neocate covered
My DD was just put on it (its a godsend!) but my insurance, UHC, covers it without authorization or anything..which I think is a bit strange. When I was trying to find out if it was covered, the woman on the phone with my insurance told me that I could appeal it if it wasn't. I would try writing an appeal letter to BCBS. The doctor told me key words to say to the insurance company that might help...let me know if you want them

Re: Getting Neocate covered
Contact Apria healthcare's Enteral Department. I had some problems getting it covered by my old insurance company (Health Net....if ever there was an insurance co that s u c k e d, it's them!) and they took care of it for me.
I got the information from this website. Search apria healthcare and you will find the enteral dept's phone number.
Good luck
Oh, and as a glimmer of hope for you....DD had blood in her stool with all formulas until we put her on Neocate, and at the 1 year mark we did a milk challenge and she outgrew the allergy.
