Getting into regular clothes postpartum
I'm 7 weeks postpartum, have 6lbs left to lose, so not a ton, I can't get ANY of my jeans on, like at all, past my knees, I don't think 6lbs would do something like that!?! I haven't worn anything but maternity clothes since 7 weeks pregnant, I popped quickly with the twins! I go back to work in a month and really don't want to buy all new clothes

Getting into regular clothes postpartum
For me it wasn't so much about the number it was that my body changed after pregnancy.

Re: Getting into regular clothes postpartum
Your hips get wider and your weight is distributed differently. Your body also holds on to a lot more fat during and after pregnancy, so where there was muscle before, there may be fat now, which pound for pound takes up more space. Your hip bones physically spread, and may or may not go back, or close to back to where they were.
For most people, it takes a lot more than 6 weeks to bounce back.

I was back in my pre-baby jeans by 4 months PP, but I don't know if they fit earlier bc I had a summer baby, so I was wearing maternity shorts for the summer. I was able to fit into pre-pregnancy crop pants and stuff though during the summer.

It depends on a lot of factors as others have mentioned. I like the guidelines that it took 9 months to put on the weight so it could take 9 months to take it off. I probably wouldn't go out and buy a ton of clothes but 2-3 pairs of pants should be enough to hold you over to see how your body changes inthe next few months.

Getting into regular clothes postpartum
I'm 7 months postpartum, and my weight is the same as before baby. I still don't fit in my jeans. I don't think the weight has anything to do with it. My hips and butt got bigger from the pregnancy, and haven't shrunk lol.. I just started WW last week and lost 6 lbs already, though! A friend of mine had a baby 6 months before me, and swore by WW. Like above, I would give it 9 months

It depends on what you were wearing. I never got into some stuff (tight dresses and some jeans) because my body changed. Even if it fit, it didn't look right. My professional clothes all fit within the year. Funny things do change though... like my shoe size went up half a size & never went down.

My body shape is totally different. I basically bought all new clothes after baby #2.

Re: Getting into regular clothes postpartum
Don't you have your pregnancy clothing that you wore in the beginning of pregnancy?
I'd wear those. Also, your body may change more in the next 4 months.
As others have said, it isn't just the weight. It's how the weight is distributed.
I went back to my pre-pregnancy weight pretty quickly with my first. It took longer with my second. Body can go back to before but it takes time.

I wore leggings right away. I was bloated from fertility meds and popped instantly with the twins. My boss was fine with it because she knew what was going on. Now that I'm not pregnant I'm sure I'm expected to go back to dressing more professional especially since I have a clinical/ administrative role

Re: Getting into regular clothes postpartum
I rarely wear pants since having kids. Dresses are much more forgiving if you go up or down a few pounds.
I would invest in a few items like this. I think your body will continue to change over the next year so I would jump to conclusions.
I lost all my baby weight plus 10 pounds before going back. I exercised a lot being off. But the stress of being a working mom, I put it back on and then some. Now that DS is sleeping through the night (he's 2!!!!!!) I'm trying to exercise again.
It's impossible to know for sure if/how your body may continue to change. You made humans and 2 of them at that. Don't beat yourself up over a few pounds or need to buy the next size up.

Unfortunately I cannot wear dresses to work, need to be hands on with kids with autism but I have a few to wear for home!

Same. Even when I lost the weight, nothing fit right. I wound up getting a size bigger in pants and feel a whole lot better. I was so depressed walking around in my maternity jeans post partum.

Re: Getting into regular clothes postpartum
I am almost 6 months PP from my third. I have lost all the baby weight from him but still have baby weight from my second. My "fat" pants are JUST fitting with spanx and muffin top. If you call that fitting. LMAO
My hips are just so wide right now. I have a hard time getting my pants up over my hips. I'm starting WW this week also. I need to get this last bit off. My theory is 38 weeks to put it on, 38 it take it off.

Re: Getting into regular clothes postpartum
None of my pre baby jeans ever fit again after I had my son. I had to get all new jeans, even in my pre pregnancy size. I found my body just changed and even though I was back in the same size, I needed different styles.

Your body just changes regardless of your weight. If you need "transition" skinny jeans $9 at forever 21 (lol) online. Haven't shopped there since I was 21 but theyre actually very comfy.
