getting baby to sleep in crib
How did you get dc to sleep in the crib? Dd won't go to sleep unless being rocked in the stroller or nursed. Once I put her in the crib she freaks out.
Eta: she's 5 months

Re: getting baby to sleep in crib
i'm probably not the best one to say because we started at 3 months and she didn't have any issue. i tried never to rock her down because i wanted her to be able to fall asleep without me. i would try starting off with having her nap in there. see how that goes. you may have to let her cry it out a little bit, as tough and sad as that can be! if she likes to be swaddled, you can try that as well in the crib.

Re: getting baby to sleep in crib
This is prob a ridiculous way to do it, but it worked for dd at 12 weeks. She was previously sleeping in the rock &play, and could only sleep on an incline. So how i tricked her was putting the boppy pillow in the crib. After she was asleep in my arms, I put her in the boppy. She was still on an incline and didn't know the difference. I stayed in her room a few mins while she got into a deeper sleep, then gently removed the boppy and layed her flat down. This went on for about a week. Then she was able to lay flat, w/o boppy. It was a weird transition to use the boppy but it worked.

Re: getting baby to sleep in crib
I started "introducing" her to her crib during naps, but she slept in her bassinet at night. After a few days, we put her down in the crib and took the bassinet apart. She was fine. (I, on the other hand, was a mess and missed my little roommate). I still nurse her to sleep while rocking in the glider, and she's 7.5 months.

Re: getting baby to sleep in crib
My DS did not sleep in his crib 100% until he was 8 months old.
We tried several times and he would just scream and I was not ready to do full blown CIO with him. He slept in his swing, it's the only thing that worked.
We moved the swing into his room though and that is where he napped and slept at night. I wanted him to get used to his room as well.
At 8 months though we tossed the swing, I took a week off of work and we did naps and night sleep in the crib. The first few days were rough, but it just got better as each day went on and by day 4 he would not make a peep when we put him in his crib and we never looked back.

Do you think it's too late to do this at 6 1/2 months?
DD will only sleep in her rock n play sleeper. It doesn't matter where it is, but she will not sleep flat in a space that isn't cuddling her. She just screams and screams. When she's in her rnp, she puts herself to sleep in minutes with barely a peep.

I would certainly try it, I don't think it's too late. I just rocked her in the glider and put her right in the boppy instead. If your dd is asleep, she shouldn't know the difference , it's a similar angle. I never thought this child would tolerate the crib either, and now she loves it!!!! I'm curious to know if it works out

Re: getting baby to sleep in crib
sandra why dont you try 2 rolled up receiving blankets under her sheet on each side of her? that way she feels "snug" without being swaddled

She'd just roll over them lol Also, we are deathly afraid of suffocation hazards. If I do try the boppy, I'd stay in the room with her to watch and immediately remove it once she was asleep.
She hasn't been swaddled since she was 4 days old (you know, back when the temperature was 15 degrees out) but we might try to swaddle her legs together since that seems to be the biggest problem when she's trying to get to sleep on a flat surface.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: getting baby to sleep in crib
put her in the crib to play, bring in some toys, talk to her play with her.. etc.
Does she play flat on her back, on a mat or something, maybe bring the mat in to the crib and have play time there.
