Getting an update on DS progress at school
DS started nursery school 3 weeks ago. I work FT and would ask my dad to ask them how DS is fairing so far but I'd rather hear it from the horses mouth so to speak. I was thinking of sending in a note in his folder next week asking how he is doing in school.
Has anyone ever done this? Is it an acceptable way of getting information? I am totally clueless as I only have 1 child.

Re: Getting an update on DS progress at school
DS just started a nursery school, too- 2 mornings a week. I would say its definitely ok to send a note into the teacher in her folder asking for an update! Especially since you're not the one who does the drop off and pick up. Did the teacher give you a way to get in touch with her besides the folder? my son's teacher gave us her home number to call if we needed to.... and I actually did, because he was crying every single day at drop off, and I just wanted to make sure he wasn't miserable the WHOLE time I would definitely put your phone number and/or e-mail in there, though. Just in case the teacher doesnt' have time to write a note back... she can call or email you when it works for her. maybe just say "I'm just curious how my daughter is doing in class so far. Please feel free to give me a call at.... or email me at...." I'm sure especially at this age, they know parents want to check in on their kids

Re: Getting an update on DS progress at school
Thanks! I wasn't given a phone # or email. As far as I know all correspondence is done through the folder LOL. DS has been really good and doesn't cry at all not even the 1st day. I know all kids don't talk about what they did in school so I am just curious if he is making friends, listening etc.
One of the assistants goes to my gym but I haven't seen her since he started school. I'm going to send in the note next week.

Re: Getting an update on DS progress at school
DS is in daycare where they send daily reports. USed to be paper, but now we get an email. The reports used to be really detailed but then he switched classes and the new teachers barely write anything. I called and spoke to the director and now they have a bit more detail. If something i should know about happens, she sends me an individual email.
it is your child. you have every right to know. and when they are that young, there should be a report coming home.
