Gestational Diabetes & Medication question
When I was pregnant with DS#1, my fasting numbers had to be 100 or below. With this pregnancy, my dr wants to see them 90 or below... that hasn't been happening. She wants to put me on meds (I've asked for 2 weeks to see if I can get the numbers under control).
If you were put on meds for GD, can you tell me what you take? Did they help significantly? Did you have any side effects?
Thank you!

Gestational Diabetes & Medication question
i have GD and the dr wants my fasting below 90 as well. i tried by diet alone which didn't work, then i went on glyburide (a pill) which helped a little and now i was just switched to insulin. we are still tweaking the insulin.....some mornings my number is perfect and others it's high so the doctor is adjusting my dose. i was scared of the drugs but haven't had any side effects at all. good luck!

Re: Gestational Diabetes & Medication question
I had GD with both of my pregnancies and diet just wasn't doing it so I wound up on injectable insulin which I took at night before bed. With my first pregnancy I kept having to go up on the dosage. With second baby it crept up slowly. Watching my diet with the insulin was very important because it impacted how high I would need to go at night. I had no side effects whatsoever and GD went away after pregnancy.
