genetic testing for IVF

I can't remember what its called, but has/will anyone do the genetic testing on the embryos after the ER?

I saw something on TV about it over the weekdn and I want to talk to my doc about it.

PGD

It really depends on what you are looking for.

If you know you have tested positive for something genetic it seems the be the right choice, otherwise as the embryo develops the genetic makeup can change over time. You could end up discarding perfectly good embryos.

See what your doc says.

Good thing you told me that. I didn't know they had to look for something specific.
I had two m/c's and when they did the chromosomal testing they were both normal.
I suppose I don't need it then.

Have you had genetic testing done? Usually that is done before you do IVF.

If you don't test positive for anything or are not a carrier for anything then it could be a waste.

Also, reoccurrent miscarriage can be due to so many things not just genetics. It could be immune related.

I am seeing Dr. B. for an immune issue and I went through all of the testing when we first met with him.
Other than the immune issue, nothing else came up positive.

thank you so much for your responses. I have been going through all of this IF crap for so long, I am just so nervous for another failed IVF cycle.
